HenryKendallHighSchoolwasofficiallyopenedinJanuary1970.Since1958,studentshadattendedschoolontheFaunceStreetsiteknownastheAnnexeofGosfordHighSchool.Asthenumberofstudentsincreasedanewschoolwasdecidedupon-HenryKendallHighSchool-withitsownstaff,uniform,badgeandmotto.ThefirstPrincipalofwasMrLeoHickeyandheheldfullschoolassembliesinthecourtyardofthethennewbuilding-'A'Block(now'J'Block).

MsTrefryhasbeenaveryactiveparticipantinthePCGandateverystageoftheongoingplanningprocessshewillhaveaccesstoallmaterial,suchasplans,developedthroughthePCG. MsTrefryisavailabletoanswerquestionsrelatingtothePCG.

AsplanningforanewschoolisacomplexprocessIintend,atvariousintervalsduringplanningandconstruction,tohavetherelevantpersonnelsuchasarchitectsandprojectmanagersavailabletodiscusswithparents,teachersandstudentssomeofthemoretechnicalaspectsofthenewschool. NeitherMsTrefrynorIarearchitectsorbuilderssothisinputwillassistinensuringthatwhatisbuiltisresponsivetofeedbackandinputfromparents,teachersandstudents.

Asapriority,thePCGwiththesupportofMsTrefryandMrWorttheprincipalofGosfordPublicSchool,neededtoapproveaprojecttousethe$3mavailabletoGosfordPublicSchoolundertheBERscheme. ApprovalhasbeengiventoupgradethefirstfloorofBlockAatHenryKendallHighSchool(thedoughnutbuilding)toprovideninehomebasesandaspecialprogramsroomfortheprimaryschool. Thisprojectwillintegratewiththefuturenewworksandwillbelinkedbyawalkwayconnectingthebuildings. MsTrefryhasbeenakeymemberofthePCGinthesediscussionsasfundingundertheBERschemeneededtobecommittedinatimelymannerinordertomeetthetimeframesetbytheCommonwealthgovernment.
