ThePeerReadingTutorProgramhasbeenoperatingforsixyearsinitspresentform.ItisajointventureprogramwithPadstowTAFEintrainingYear10studentsastutorsforstudentsinloweryears.Thi*eansthatitisnotonlyavolunteerprogramforthetutors,butalsoanaccreditedTAFEcoursethattheyareundertaking,successfulcompletionofwhichgivesthemacertificate.

VocationalEducationandWorkReadiness

CPHSstudentscontinuetobesupportedintheirpursuitofabroadcurriculumthatreflectsequityofopportunityinskillacquisition.TheschooloffersoneofthebroadestrangesofVocationalEducationTraining(VET)subjectsintheLikeSchoolGroup(LSG)area.

TheVETsubjectsofferedtoourseniorstudentsincludeConstruction,MetalandEngineering,InformationTechnologyandHospitality.Thebenefitsofstudyingthesecoursesaretwofold.Firstly,studentsareachievingworkplacecompetencieswhichcontributetowardtheachievementofthenecessaryskillsrequiredtoworkinthatindustry.Therefore,studentsgraduatewithanationallyrecognisedqualificationforadvancedentryintotheirTAFEcourse.Secondly,throughtheirtheoreticalstudiesandHigherSchoolCertificate(HSC)examination,aVETcoursecontributestothestudent‘sattainmentoftheirHSCandAustralianTertiaryAdmissionsRank(ATAR).
